British Values
At Hallwood Park, we pursue a values-based curriculum. This means that we promote and teach a set of values to our pupils that will ensure they develop the skills to be good citizens in the future. The children are taught that values are principles which guide our thinking and behaviour.
Each month, we focus on a different value. It is introduced during assembly times and then followed up in class and around the school. At the end of the month, children who have successfully demonstrated our ‘Value of the Month’ are chosen to be presented with a certificate in Celebration Assembly.
We also actively promote the fundamental British Values of:
- Democracy
- The Rule of Law
- Individual Liberty
- Mutual Respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs
Our values for the year are:
- September – Resilience
- October – Co-operation
- November – Respect
- December – Communication
- January – Enquiry
- February – Love and Honesty
- March – Tolerance
- April – Thoughtfulness
- May – Responsibility
- June – Achievement
- July – Adaptability
