Welcome to another busy half term here in Robins class.
This half term, our topic is called 'River Deep, Mountain High'. Our industrious Year 5 children can already talk in detail about the stages a river goes through during its journey to the sea. We will be learning about the World's major rivers and the water cycle. One of our highlights will be a practical investigation into the formation of mountains.
Our Spring 1 overview is as follows:
This half term, Year 5 will continue to learn about the benefits of having a growth mindset. Our PSHE sessions will focus on positive learning strategies and behaviours that will maximise success and progress.
Here is a word-cloud created by one Year 5 child to show some of the important attributes of a growth mindset:
Homework and new reading books are given out each Friday afternoon.
Homework needs to be returned on Mondays.
Books need to be returned in folder (with signed homework diary) when completed.
In Year 5, children should be reading every day. A child reading the higher stage Oxford Reading Tree books could read a chapter each day and would then be changing their book fortnightly.
Our P.E. sessions usually take place each Monday and Wednesday. We recommend that children bring their P.E. kit in on a Monday and keep it in school until Friday.
