Ravens - Year 3

Welcome to the Raven's page

Class Teacher: Mr Smith      Classroom Assistant: Miss Dyson

Welcome to our class webpage. We have a very exciting year planned for the children in Ravens class which includes swimming lessons, learning to play the recorder and exciting computing lessons involving creating animations using iPads and notebooks. We will also have a cross-curricular termly topic in which the children will learn about our history and the geographical features of our planet.

This term our topic is going to be ‘The Ancient Egyptians’, where we will learn all about when, how and where they lived.  We will examine the daily lives of being an Ancient Egyptian including the social hierarchy, construction of the pryamids, mummification and the gods and goddesses they worshipped.

PE and Swimming Kits

P.E kits must be in on a Monday morning ready for Year 3 P.E. on a Monday afternoon. It is important that it is left in school in case the children have an opportunity to do P.E. at any other time in the week.  Children will bring their P.E. kits home on a Thursday.

Swimming kits should be brought to school on a Friday.  Children should bring a towel, swimming costume and 50p to cover the cost of lessons and transport.

Homework

Homework is handed out to the children on a Friday and is expected back at school on a Tuesday morning. Homework is an important part of the learning process and reinforces children’s learning for that week; therefore it is compulsory for all children and needs to be completed on time.   Most weeks children will be given maths, literacy, spelling and reading homework.   Children will take a spelling test every Thursday and you will be given regular feedback regarding their results.   If your child is finding the homework difficult then please tell a member of staff who help them with their understanding.
